Rentals

NeighborWorks® Home Resources owns and manages 20 units of affordable housing.  The historic Nies Block Apartment building in downtown Salamanca, New York, has 18 one- and two-bedroom apartments for rent.  We also own and manage a duplex in Hinsdale, New York, that has two units for rent.

The Nies Block Apartments were renovated in 1988 using over $700,000 from the New York State Housing Trust Fund.  These apartments are in a secure building, and feature high ceilings and gated windows.  In addition, the electric appliances and baseboard heaters are powered by inexpensive City of Salamanca electricity.

If you are interested in renting one of the apartments, please contact us at 716-373-4100.

Community Development

The purpose of our community development efforts is to provide funding for commercial property owners and businesses to repair buildings, create employment options, and boost the tax base of downtown areas, in addition to creating or improving affordable housing units in upper floors of downtown buildings.

NeighborWorks® Home Resources partners with communities in our service area to help improve downtown areas.  Partnering with local towns, villages, and cities, we can provide loans and grants to businesses and building owners to renovate commercial buildings, including creating and improving upper-floor housing, completing façade improvements, and making exterior and interior upgrades.

Examples of façade improvements include such work as lighting, awnings, and signs.  Examples of building repairs and upgrades are roof, foundation, and structural work, plus inside upgrades to heating/cooling, electrical, plumbing, walls, floors, etc.  These examples are to give a general impression of the type of work that could be done on these projects.  Depending on the project, other kinds of work may be permitted.

NeighborWorks® Home Resources can help guide building owners through the rehabilitation process.  We have extensive experience managing construction projects from start to finish.  For your project, we will conduct an initial inspection to determine the scope of work, write construction specifications, monitor progress, process pay requests, and complete close-out documents to help our customers improve their buildings and their downtown areas.
